在华慧考博的日常教学中,时常会遇到一些学员提出各种各样的问题,例如最近就有一位学员提一个比较意思的问题,今天华慧考博老师就来为大家讲一下,希望同样对这个问题有疑的同学有所收获.这个问题是关于英语比较结构中的歪定. 今天有一位学员提出一个问题，是关于下面这个长难句： Companies advertising products on television do not describe the advantages of their competitor’s products any more than a man asking a woman to marry him encourage her to date other men before making up her mind. 【参考译文】在电视上为其产品做广告宣传的公司不会描述竞争对手产品的有点，同样，向女人求婚的男人也不会鼓励她在做出决定之前与别的男人约会。 该学员提出疑问：按照译文，英语句子中to前面是不是应该加一个not? （ ...encourage her not to date...）那么此处，是否要加not呢？ 正确的结论是：不需要加not。这是因为这里的否定意义蕴含在not... any more than（或no more... than）结构里，表示两者都不。这让我回想起，也有不少学员曾经问过类似的问题，都是关于比较结构的否定。那么，这里就给大家列举一些常见易错的比较结构的否定用法。 1. no more... than或not...any more than：表示“同……一样不”，同时对两种事物或性质进行否定，如： This story is no more interesting than that one. 这个故事和那个故事一样没有趣味。 He is no more able to read German than I am. 他和我一样都不懂德语。 A home without love is no more a home than a body without a soul is a man. 一个没有爱的家便不再称其为家，如同没有灵魂的躯体不再是人一样。 He is not a poet any more than I am a scholar. 他不是一个诗人，我也不是一个学者。 It is no use asking me. I do not knowany more than you. 问我没有用。我跟你同样不懂。
2. not more...than ：表示“不比……更”，比较两个不同的人或事物，如： The new edition is not more expensive than the old edition. 新版本不必旧版本贵。 She was not more pleased than I was. 她没有我那样高兴。
3. no less...than：表示“和……一样”与not less...than：表示“不亚于……”，如： He is no less active than he used to be. 他和从前一样活跃。 He is notless active than he used to be. 他活跃，不亚于以前。 His mind is no less alert than yours. 他的头脑和你的一样敏捷。 His mind is not less alert than yours. 他头脑敏捷，不亚于你。 The boy is no less quick at figures than I. 他对数字的反应和我一样快。 The boy is not less quick at figures than I. 他对数字反应快，不亚于我。
4. no better than：表示“和……一样；实际等于……”，如： He is no better than a beggar. 他实际上等于一个乞丐。 The patient isno better than he was yesterday. 病人的情况和昨天一样。 He hasno better a say in the matter than I have. 他和我一样在这件事上没有发言权。
5. not so much... as：表示“与其……不如……” He is not so much a writer as a reporter. 他与其说是个作家，不如说是个记者。 Your explanation does not so much enlighten us as confuse us. 你的解释没有起到启发作用，反而把我们弄糊涂了。 Oceans don't so much divide the world as unite it. 与其说海洋分隔了世界，不如说海洋联结了世界。 I donot so much dislike him as hate him. 我与其说不喜欢他，不如说我恨他。
